Nigeria’s Flamingos emerged as champions after completing a perfect campaign, winning all five of their matches to finish with a maximum 15 points. Nigeria scored 17 goals during the tournament and remained unbeaten throughout, underlining their consistency across the competition.
Ghana’s Black Maidens finished as runners-up after collecting 12 points from their five matches. Ghana also recorded the highest number of goals in the competition, scoring 20 times, while Saidatu Wahab finished as the tournament’s leading scorer with five goals.
The final standings also saw Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso finish on six points each, while Togo and Niger completed their campaigns with three points and no points respectively. Burkina Faso ended the tournament on a high, recording their biggest victory of the competition with an 8-0 win over Niger on the final day.
More than the results and standings, the tournament provided an important platform for the development of women’s football within the WAFU Zone B region. The competition gave young players from the participating Member Associations the opportunity to gain valuable international match experience while testing themselves against teams from across the region.
For coaches and technical teams, the tournament also offered an important environment to assess emerging talents, expose players to different tactical approaches and identify areas requiring further development. The experience gained in Yamoussoukro will form part of the players’ continued progression as they work towards senior-level football.
The competition also reflects WAFU Zone B’s commitment to creating regular opportunities for young female footballers across the region. By providing structured competitive matches at youth level, the Zone continues to strengthen the pathway for the development of women’s football and create a stronger foundation for the future.
The successful conclusion of the 2026 WAFU Zone B U17 Girls Cup in Yamoussoukro marks another step in the Zone’s efforts to accelerate the technical, tactical and competitive development of young female footballers across West Africa.
