WAFU B U17: Ghana off to a flying start after 1-0 win over Togo

Ghana began their campaign at the WAFU Zone B U17 Boys Championship with a 1-0 victory over Togo on Saturday in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

The Black Starlets secured all three points in their opening Group A fixture to make a positive start to the competition, which serves as the qualifying tournament for the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.

David Kwarteng scored the decisive goal just seven minutes into the game, giving Ghana an early lead and becoming the first player to score at the 2026 WAFU B U17 Championship.

The early breakthrough proved enough for Ghana to secure victory and take an important step in their bid to qualify for the continental tournament.

The result puts the Black Starlets in on top of Group A as they turn their attention to their remaining group fixtures.
Ghana will be aiming to build on the opening-day victory as they continue their quest for qualification to the 2027 U17 AFCON.
