Benin and hosts Burkina Faso played out a goalless draw in the opening match of the 2026 WAFU Zone B U17 Boys Championship on Saturday in Ouagadougou.
The Group A encounter marked the official start of the tournament, which serves as the qualifying competition for the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
Both teams were unable to find the breakthrough, with the match ending 0-0 to see the two sides share the points in their opening fixture.
Burkina Faso, playing on home soil, were hoping to begin their campaign with a victory, but Benin held firm to secure a point from the tournament’s opening game.
The result leaves both teams with one point each in Group A ahead of their remaining fixtures, with Ghana and Togo also competing in the group.
Attention now shifts to the second Group A match of the opening day, where Ghana face Togo as the teams begin their quest for a place at the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
