Ghana’s Black Starlets continued their impressive campaign at the 2026 WAFU B U17 Championship with a convincing 3-1 victory over Benin in their second Group A match.
The Black Starlets produced another commanding performance to secure all three points, with striker Alidu Issah grabbing a brace and Nii Odoi Tawiah adding a third goal after the break.
Ghana made a strong start to the encounter, with Issah finding the back of the net twice to put his side in a commanding position. However, Benin responded in the 31st minute through Abel Isegnon, who pulled one back to keep his team in contention before the break.
The young Ghanaians maintained their attacking intent in the second half and extended their advantage through Nii Odoi Tawiah, who found the net to make it 3-1 and strengthen Ghana’s grip on the contest.
Benin attempted to fight their way back into the game, but Ghana remained resolute to preserve their two-goal advantage until the final whistle.
The victory further consolidates Ghana’s position on top of the table after winning all their two group games. With a game to spare, the Black starlets have already booked their place in the semi-final of the tournament.
The Black Starlets will now turn their attention to their last group game against hosts Burkina Faso as they seek to maintain their winning momentum.
