Nigeria’s Oluwakemi Adegbuyi wins Golden Ball at 2026 WAFU B U17 Girls Cup

Nigeria’s Oluwakemi Adegbuyi has been named the Player of the Tournament at the 2026 WAFU Zone B U17 Girls Cup following an outstanding campaign that helped the Flamingos lift the title in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.

The 16-year-old was instrumental in Nigeria’s dominant run, scoring four goals as the Flamingos won all five of their matches to finish the competition with a perfect 15 points and claim the title.

Adegbuyi’s performances throughout the tournament earned her the prestigious Golden Ball award, recognising her as the standout individual performer of the competition.

The honour represents another remarkable achievement for the young Nigerian, who has now won the Golden Ball in two consecutive WAFU Zone B competitions. Last month, Adegbuyi was named Player of the Tournament at the WAFU B Women’s Champions League Qualification Tournament in Burkina Faso, where she played a key role in her club’s campaign.

Her latest recognition underlines her rapid emergence on the regional women’s football stage and highlights the quality of young talent coming through Nigeria’s development pathway.

Adegbuyi’s performances also reinforce the developmental importance of the WAFU Zone B U17 Girls Cup, which provides young players with regular competitive opportunities and exposure against teams from across the region.

With two major individual awards secured in successive WAFU Zone B competitions, the 16-year-old now stands among the emerging talents attracting attention within the region as she continues her development in women’s football.
