KOMI Christ Adzogblé has been named Player of the Match following Ivory Coast’s 1-1 draw against Niger in their opening Group B encounter at the 2026 WAFU B U17 Championship on Sunday evening.
The Ivorian youngster earned the individual accolade after scoring the equaliser that rescued a point for his side in a competitive encounter against Niger.
Niger took the lead in the 17th minute through Ibrahim Aboubacar, who capitalised on a defensive mistake to put his team ahead and give them an early advantage.
Ivory Coast responded after the break and restored parity in the 54th minute when Adzogblé produced a brilliant finish to bring his side back into the game.
Despite efforts from both teams to find a winner, neither side could add to the scoreline, with the match ending in a 1-1 stalemate.
The result gives both nations a point each in Group B, which also features Nigeria. The Elephants will now look to build on their opening performance as they continue their campaign in the tournament.
